Eisenhower Real Estate and Land Use attorney Terry Brink recently assisted Lipoma Communities LLC, developers of the 202-acre Lipoma Firs Golf Course in Graham to obtain an un-appealed approval for the Lipoma Communities Planned Development District. At full build-out, the project calls for 1,697 single-family dwelling units including: 697 single-family detached units; 305 mixed-use lots of detached and zero lot line; and 5 lots of Mixed Use District uses equivalent to 695 dwelling units

The project was aggressively opposed by the local fire district and an adjacent plat's homeowners' association. The approval, which came nearly four years after entitlements were first applied for, addressed the concerns raised by both the fire district and the homeowners' association such that the Hearing Examiner granted the approval, which included voluntary concessions to both. The Hearing Examiner's decision allows for the project to develop in 13 phases over 15 years. As the housing industry continues to regain vitality, this project will be a valuable, affordable housing resource for many years in the Graham community.
